Today has been unseasonably warm - driving into town the car display said it was 32 degrees centigrade. I think it was probably exaggerating a little but it certainly was hot and horribly humid.
This is the problem I have with English weather. I can just about do "hot" when abroad, when we were in Kos last the temperature was in the 40's most days but you could still potter about and do things because there just wasn't the humidity.
Today, I only had to take a few steps outside and I was literally wringing wet. Hateful, really, especially as everyone else in the high street was also hot, sweaty and, in some cases, rather unpleasantly fragranced.
Still, I managed to get the bulk of my shopping done early in the morning, so at least that was out of the way.
I phoned Margaret this afternoon. It was, as usual, a rather difficult conversation. She has really taken her latest bout of ill-health rather badly and is struggling to come to terms with the fact that she can no longer do as much as she used to be able to do. I hope that I don't end up like that, she seems so bitter and unhappy with life, when really, this broken ankle aside, life has been pretty good to her. I have promised that we will make the trip down to see her and can see that I will have to grit my teeth and make the effort fairly shortly.
Other than that I have had a lovely, quiet day. Kate & Dom were out at work and Dave is off gigging - it has been lovely and peaceful here.
