In between the belated April showers on Saturday, I managed to get a few things done in the garden. As usual, the garden seems to go from dead and wintery to overgrown with weeds over the course of just one night.
I have planted out some Stocks, Pansies and Sweet Williams. Planted up my hanging baskets and my two “front door” pots – Wilkos had a few reduced “lollipop” bay trees but unfortunately I couldn’t work out how to get them home on my pushbike. I expect that my the time I can justify going back by car, they will be long gone L
In a fit of utter madness I picked up two Erysimum “Bowles Mauve” thinking how pretty they would look in my front garden. It wasn’t until I had planted them out and started itching that I remembered having one of these before and being hugely allergic to it. Spent the evening itching and scratching like a cat with fleas. Still, they are very pretty - I shall just make a mental note to myself to remember to put on my garden gloves when I tidy that bed up.
The scarlet kales are ready to plant out and I want to get some small pots of salad leaves started off in the cold frame. I am beginning to really like gardening – I’m not very good at it but it does seem hugely rewarding when it goes right.
